Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, was son of Kanchok Phuntsog and Dechen Choedon, He was born on April 25th, 1989 in the Lhari district of Nagchu, in Tibet. Bright and intelligent, he is gifted with a sharp mind. At the age of six he was recognized the reincarnation of the late 10th Panchen Lama, the second highest spiritual leader of Tibet and on the 15th May 1995, the day H.H. the Dalai Lama officially proclaimed Gedhen Choekyi Ninma as the 11th Panchen Lama. Within days of the announcement, on May 17th, 1995 the six-year-old boy, and his parents, disappeared from his home in Tibet.
Today he is fourteen years old and we appeal the international community and all Tibet supports and friends to take every opportunity prevail upon the Chinese authorities to release and to ensure the safety and well being of Gedhum Choekyi Nyima.
